Wind

So I know, I pretty much failed on the "daily blogging" part of this experience...it's been nearly 2 months since I last posted on here. Oh well, what the heck. It's super windy and rainy right now (worst rainfall they've had in 30 years), so I might as well take the time to do this. To bring you up to speed, in the past two months I have:
  1. Gone on Newbold's retreat to Cornwall--amazing. Great time camping in trailers, making great friends, having campfires (minus the smores, shame, I know), taking morning walks down to the coast to "watch the sunrise" through the thick clouds for a good morning meditation, oggling over the gorgeous blonde lifeguard who left right before I worked up the courage to ask for a picture with him, and seeing Tintagel (King Arthur's castle).
  2. Gone to Belfast--awesome Black Taxi tours, Giant's Causeway trip, beautiful coastline, fun at random pubs with old men who watch the American girls shake it on the dance floor (and kiss my room mate on the cheek!), sampling black bush bushmills whiskey, and barely making our flight back to the UK (literally...the last two girls only made it on the plane because they were together).
  3. Gone to Dublin--fun fun fun! Big city with loads to do and see, spent a whole day walking ALL over the city, went to the temple bar district, enjoyed delicious fresh food from the temple bar food market, stayed in a hostel room with like 5 huge guys from the netherlands (that means it was always smelly, and they never came back before 3 am), fell in love with curry cheese fries from hungry harry's, experienced a football game (ireland vs. italy, world cup qualifier) in THE temple bar, made a game out of rejecting random guys trying to hit on me, waited through THE LONGEST security line in the history of mankind at 5:30 AM and consequentally nearly missed the flight back home again (walked on 5 mins after it was supposed to have left, we only made it because the plane had technical difficulty and left 1.5 hours late).
  4. Became a major fan of British pop and dance music. Thanks to Spotify, the British equivalent of free iTunes, I can listen to tons of music for free whenever I want.
  5. Started and finished the Twilight saga in a week, and as can be guessed, became a huge fan. I am a major groupie now. I listen to the soundtracks. I went to the fan event in London. I was more stoked to see New Moon than I am for the end of this semester. Sad? Maybe. Do I care? NO! :)
  6. Gotten unidentified brown liquid thrown at me by a man in a car passing by. Ah, love that British hospitality.
  7. Probably gained like 5 pounds from the amazing Pakistani food I've been eating at the Ainsworth's house.
  8. Learned how to play ping-pong and how to say "who took the jam out of your donut" in a brittish accent.
  9. Learned how to salsa dance in Oxford, even with huge ass blisters on my feet. Still trying to teach Jonathan without him looking down the whole time, haha. Completely let go of every inhibition that night, and I'm so glad I did. Best night so far!
  10. Seen foxes in the wild for the first time. Multiple times. They're huge!
  11. Been stuck in a blackout where we had good quality fun entertaining ourselves in candlelight.
  12. Been lost in London in a car driven by a local...only to find ourselves on Fleet Street. Yikes!
  13. Seen multiple plays, musicals, operas, and other fine artsy shows. So great! I'm falling in love with the arts again..Art, music, literature...its great!
  14. Gone trick-or-treating at 11 pm wearing devil horns and a "PVC" jacket with random face paint all over. No one was awake, thank goodness.
  15. Gone to the London Zoo and experienced first-hand how important it is that you choose carefully which animals you put together in an exhibit (in the reptile house, the crocodile attacked and attempted to drown its roomie, a huge lizard that can last 10 minutes underwater without air...dont worry, they came and rescued it).
  16. Gotten hit on by random creepers. We've all established that I only attract weird old men. Sad face.
  17. Gotten B's on every paper since I've been here. They just "don't give out A's." I think that's retarded.
  18. Expanded my movie knowledge by watching at least 1 new movie per day. Sometimes 2, maybe 3. I'm being educated!
  19. Been introduced to The Mighty Boosh, awesome British comedy show...soooo random!
  20. Watched amazing fireworks from the next door golf course for Guy Fawkes Day, and was introduced to a new firework that is like a string of em attached to a parachute...neat stuff.
  21. Pulled some intensely fun all-nighters, mostly with Jonathan, that crazy little boy, and 1 nearly all-nighter watching the stars on the park bench. So great.
  22. Had some of the most amazing discussions (mostly with Julia or Mark) about religion, humanity, the Bible, homosexuality, Adventist relevancy, evolution...etc. And from that has come so much growth and change. I think I'm starting to find myself...spiritually. wow.
  23. Made some of the best friends ever! I have never had a group of people genuinely care about me so much in a nonromantic (or non-wannabe romantic) way. These people have taught me what true friendship looks like. Leaving here is gonna be so hard.
  24. Had a few months of my life drama and worry free. Such a breath of fresh air.
  25. Still not had enough of this British scenery and RAIN!!! :D
  26. Seen my first celebrities up close and personal! Rob Pattinson and TAYLOR LAUTNER! They signed my book at the London Fan Event for New Moon. Such a great experience.
  27. Sang "Oh Happy Day," black style and everything, with one of the praise teams from Newbold at a church near London. I was the only white girl up there. Haha. Good stuff!
  28. Decided I want to live in London some day. Maybe I will get my first internship here if I'm lucky.
  29. Purchased and returned 3 of the same watches since I've been here. They keep breaking, but as long as they keep replacing them for free, I'm ok.
I think that's enough for now. I gotta go shower and get ready to hop in to London to see my family! I can't wait!!! Ugh I have so much homework to do though....yuck. Showertime!!! :D
